Crochet Kids Hat With Green Stripes

Fey is sporting a crochet kids hat with green and white stripes. Perfect for small children, it is warm - yet breathable - keeping them comfortable while at play.

This striped little number has a circumference of approximately 16 inches (41 cm), with a height of 7 inches (18 cm) from the very top to its decorative trim. Depending on the size of your child's head the edge will lie either just above, or slightly below their earlobes. It's a good size for larger infants or toddlers, but do be sure to measure their head to ensure a proper fit.

This particular kids hat was conceived using a white "self-striping" print yarn painted in shades of green ranging from a pale lime to a yellow-tinged medium green. It's coat has developed some lovely, thick stripes and its 1/2-inch (1 cm) wide edging is nice and neat. This freshly colored kids hat would totally enjoy hanging out on the head of a clear, warm-toned Spring youngster, from chilling Fall through warming Spring.

Because the dye used in printed yarn is sprayed on, it results in a SLIGHTY stiffer and not quite as smooth yarn. Nowhere near as stiff as some new baby clothes can be, LOL, however you may wish to give your new kids hat a quick wash before placing it on your youngster, if they tend to be sensitive to textures.

Crocheted, by me, of NEW yarn. The yarn was made in Canada, of cotton grown in the USA. I was manufactured (mostly) in Massachusetts, USA.

Because cotton yarn isn't as resilient as acrylic or wool you may, one day, find this hat has become tired and isn't hugging your child's head as snug as before. Giving it a nice bath will revive it, though truly exhausted crochet cloches may also require a quick tumble.

To care for your kids hat all you need to do is bathe it the Delicate cycle (cold water is preferred, but warm can be used to clean a hat that been playing too hard). No bleach, but fabric softener is ok. Then allow it to rest, flat, until dry. A quick tumble in the dryer is fine if you allow it to play only until it is slightly damp. Too much time in the dryer will result in an uncomfortable hat!! My kids hats prefer being placed in a Delicates bag or pillowcase as it keeps them from getting lost and aids in keeping their coats looking like new.
