Crochet Hat Beanie Muted Pastel

cotton yarn made in Canada of US grown cotton
Today Fey is having fun in a cotton crochet hat beanie in muted pastels. As you can guess by the photos, Fey is having difficulty seeing - a good sign that this hat is intended for older kids (Teens and some Tweens) as well as Adults.

The beanie's circumference is approximately 22-1/2 inches (57 cm) around, with a height of 8-1/2 (22 cm) inches from the center of the top beginning round to the decorative trim edge. This crochet hat beanie was crafted with love and care using a soft, multi-colored yarn in pastels. The yarn has the appearance of being "tea-ed" in that it looks like it was dyed, then briefly soaked in tea to give it a muted, aged look. From a distance its pattern gives it an opal-like appearance, containing golden yellow, a warm muted pink, sage green and light blue.

Definitely muted. Almost definitely warm-toned - the blue gives it a touch of coolness. I would recommend it as a companion for Autumns. Speaking of Autumn, this cotton crochet cloche is perfect for chilly Autumn weather as well as warming Spring. My personal cloches have clocked a couple of Winters just fine, too, though you may prefer to wear yours under a hood.

Each and every crochet hat you see in my shop is handmade by me, of cotton yarn. You may find, over time, your hat isn't hugging your head as snuggly as before. No, your head isn't shrinking! It's just that cotton isn't as resilient (it doesn't bounce back as well) as wool or acrylic. A quick wash will remind it of the size and shape it should be, though well-loved beanies may also require a quick tumble in the dryer.

To care for your crochet hat wash it the Delicate cycle (cold water is preferred to keep the colors bright, but warm can be used occasionally to clean a heavily soiled cloche). No bleach, but fabric softener is okay. Dry flat. A quick tumble in the dryer, on Low heat, is fine if you only dry it until it's still slightly damp. Too much time in the dryer can result in a stiff and scratchy hat! A Delicates bag or pillowcase is recommended as it will keep your hat from getting lost in the wash and aids in keeping it looking like new.
