Pink Striped Cotton Crochet Scarf

Cotton yarn made in the US
The ever patient Fey is modeling a pink striped cotton crochet scarf. One of my Scrap Happys, it's 76 inches long (193 cm), plus 8 inch (20 cm) fringe, by 4-1/4 inches (11 cm) wide. Not nearly as long as the 4th Doctor's scarf but not too far off!

This particular Scrap Happy Scarf is called "Peppermint Twist". It features a 1-1/2 inch (4 cm) hot pink stripe on one edge. The rest of the scarf is crocheted using "self-striping" printed yarn containing white and various shades of pink, ranging from hot to baby. Sweet and cool. A wonderful choice for clear, cool-toned Winters, and those who want something pink to show their support for breast cancer awareness.

Printed yarn tends to be a little on the stiff side since the slightly thick dye tends to rest on the outside of the yarn. Therefore this crochet scarf doesn't mold itself around the neck as well as my other Scrap Happy Scarves do - at least not right away. Give it love, regular baths, and the occasional dose of fabric softener and it'll quickly break in like a pair of favorite jeans.

All my Scrap Happy Scarves are made, by me. They can consist of leftover yarn scraps, mismatched dye lots, that one remaining skein in the bin (that isn't enough to use for anything else), and, yes, the reclaimings of a project that has gone horribly wrong. Sometimes they contain all of the above! ALL YARN IS NEW! Even the reclaimed yarn is technically new as the never finished project was also never worn or used.

Just an FYI: because of the stitch used in making my Scrap Happys the ends have a tendency to curl. This is normal!

To care for your crochet scarf wash it the Delicate cycle (cold water is preferred, but warm can be used to clean a particularly dirty scarf). No bleach, but fabric softener is okay. Then dry flat. Tumble drying is good if you only dry your scarf until it is still slightly damp. Over-drying will result in a rough crochet scarf! A delicates bag is recommended to keep it looking new for as long as possible, and to keep the fringe from tangling. Iron when necessary, using the "Cotton" setting.
