Cotton Crochet Scarf Blue and White Stripe
The ever patient Fey is modeling a striped cotton crochet scarf in blues and greens. It is 76 inches long (193 cm), plus 8 inch (20 cm) fringe, by 4-1/4 inches (11 cm) wide. Long enough for wrapping once or twice around your neck, or around your head and neck.
This particular crochet scarf is called "Bermuda Parfait". With a base of greens and blues - courtesy of a "self-striping" yarn - this cotton scarf is topped with a white stripe that is 1-1/2 inch (4 cm) wide. A wonderful choice for muted, cool-toned Summers.
Printed yarn tends to be a little on the stiff side since the slightly thick dye sits on the outside of the yarn. Therefore this crochet scarf doesn't mold itself around the neck as well as my other scarves - at least not right away. Give it love, regular baths, and the occasional dose of fabric softener and it'll quickly break in like a pair of favorite jeans.
This is a scrap Happy Scarf, and like all of my Scrap Happy Scarves it was made by me. Scrap Happy's can consist of leftover yarn scraps, mismatched dye lots, that one remaining skein in the bin (that isn't enough to use for anything else), and, yes, the reclaimings of a project that has gone horribly wrong - or all of the above! ALL YARN IS NEW! Even the reclaimed yarn is technically new as the never finished project was also never worn or used.
Just an FYI: because of the stitch used in making my Scrap Happys the ends have a tendency to curl. This is normal!
To care for your crochet scarf just wash it the Delicate cycle (cold water is preferred, but warm can be used to clean a particularly dirty Scrap Happy). No bleach, but fabric softener is ok. Then dry flat. Tumble drying is okay if you only dry your scarf until it is still slightly damp. Over-drying will result in a rough scarf! A delicates bag is recommended to keep it looking new for as long as possible, and to keep the fringe from tangling. Iron when necessary, using the "Cotton" setting.
